# STEP 1

 

Talk about mountains in Korea.

 

70% of our country is covered in mountains.

There are famous mountains all over the country.

They are popular as vacation spots and camping spots.

Apart from such famous mountains, there are usually smaller mountains close by.

Because mountains are so common, many people like to go hiking.

The mountains are beautiful all year long, but especially in the autumn and winter.

When the leaves change color in the fall, it's a beautiful sight.

When it snows in the winter, the snow-covered mountains are picture-perfect.

우리나라의 70%는 산지로 이루어져 있다. 

전국에는 유명한 산들이 많아서 휴가지나 캠핑장으로 인기가 많다. 

이러한 유명한 산들 외에도, 대개 근처에 작은 산들이 있다. 

이렇게 산이 흔하게 있어서 등산을 즐기는 사람들이 많다. 

산은 사계절 내내 아름답지만, 특히 가을과 겨울에 더 아름답다. 

가을에 단풍이 들면 산들은 장관을 연출한다. 

겨울에 눈이 오면, 흰 눈이 쌓인 산의 풍경이 한 폭의 그림과도 같다.

Mountains are popular as vacation spots.
I don't like famous vacation spots because they are too crowded.
We've already chosen a vacation spot to go to this summer.

 

2) all year long 일년 내내
The mountains are beautiful all year long.
Korea is a great place to visit all year long.
I studied all year long to take this test.

 

3) picture-perfect (모습이) 완벽한
When it snows in the winter, the snow-covered mountains are picture-perfect.
Everything has to be picture-perfect for this presentation.

It was picture-perfect spring weather.

 

# STEP 2 

 

There is small mountain not far from my house.

There are two hiking trails, and it's 40-minute trek to the top.

In the past, I didnt' get the appeal of hiking.

But once I started hiking and went several times, I found it has many merits.

You can get a breath of fresh air and it's a good workout, so you feel healthy afterward.

I also like that I can listen to music as I hike and get lost in my thoughts.

It was the perfect weather for hiking when I went last weekend.

When I came back down, I felt rejuvenated and refreshed.

우리 집에서 멀지 않은 곳에 작은 산이 하나 있다.

2개의 등산로가 있고, 정상까지 올라가는 데 40분 정도 걸린다.

예전에는 등산의 맛을 잘 몰랐다.

그런데 등산을 시작하고 산에 자주 오다 보니, 정말 좋은 점이 많았다.

맑은 공기를 마실 수 있고 좋은 운동이 되어서 건강해지는 느낌이다.

그리고 등산을 하며 음악을 듣거나 생각에 잠길 수 있어서 좋다.

지난 주말에 산에 갔을 때 등산하기 딱 좋은 날씨였다.

등산을 하고 내려오니 기분이 상쾌하고 기분 전환이 되었다.

You can get a breath of fresh air, so you feel healthy afterward.
Getting a breath of fresh air helps wake me up when I'm tired.

 

3) get lost in one's thoughts 생각에 잠기다

I also like that I can listen to music as I hike get lost in my thoughts.

I like to take long walks and get lost in my thoughts.

It's easy to get lost in your thoughts when you're alone.

 

# Expression of the Day 

It takes your breath away. 숨 막히게 아름답구나. 
 
A: I'm so tired. Are we almost at the top?
B: We're here. Look over there! Isn't it beautiful?
A: Wow, you were right. It takes your breath away.
B: I'm glad you came with me today.

A: 나 너무 힘들어. 거의 정상에 도착한 거야?
B: 다 왔어. 저기 좀 봐! 멋지지 않아?
A: 우와, 네 말이 옳았어. 숨 막히게 아름답구나.
B: 오늘 네가 같이 와 줘서 기뻐.
