(2020.03.04)

# Speech Practice

Talk about frequent flyer miles that airlines provide.

Major airlines have been offering frequent flyer mileage programs for a long time.

Users accumulate miles based on how far they fly.

The points given can increase by a factor of 1.5 or 2, depending on the seat class.

These travel points are why some people keep going back to a particular airline.

If you keep collecting miles, you can use them to get perks.

You can receive free tickets.

You can also get bumped up to a better seat class.

As a traveler, it feels great to receive these free benefits.

To collect  frequent flyer miles in the past, using the airline was your only route.

But nowadays, there are credit cards that are linked to airline miles.

They offer the benefit of converting a fixed percentage of the amount you spend into miles.

You can also rack up miles by using shopping sites and travel agencies that have partnered up with the airline.

# Dialogue Practice

A: I heard you're going to the States soon. Which airline are you taking?
B: I'm taking a major carrier that I always use.
A: Really? Aren't the tickets really expensive? Low cost carriers these days are pretty cheap.
B: That's true, but I've been accumulating airline miles.
A: Oh, I see. Have you racked up a lot of points?
B: Yeah, quite a lot. I get airline rewards when I use my credit card.
A: Don't you get a lot of benefits, then?
B: Yes. I'm thinking about getting a seat upgrade when I go to the States.

A: 그래?
A: 아, 그렇구나.
