In a sharing economy, items are not seen as possessions.

Economic activity is based on renting out the items to use.

The term refers to a social economic model based on the internet and smartphone in which products, spaces and services are borrowed and shared.

Airbnb and uber are prime example of a sharing economy.

At first, the end goal was to prevent wasting resources by sharing possessions.

However, recent biz models are aimed at maximizing profits.

The original purposes are being left behind
*be left behind 본래 취지가 퇴색되다.

Visitor to the park can rent out the bicycles.

2) wasting resources 자원 낭비하는 것
To avoid wasting resources, I always carry a tumbler.

3) maximize profits
To maximize profits, we need to be more efficient.

"The trend of sharing economy"

There's a wide range of services based on a sharing economy these days.

Many people can use the services by logigng on via smart phone apps.

This is why the services are growing by the day.

Major examples are shared offices and kitchens.

Ride sharing services are another big example.

Also, the shared bicycles and scooters often seen on the streets are part of the services.

The biggest selling point is that users can temporarily rent products instead of taking the plunge and buying them.

This has the added benefits of saving on costs and cutting down on wasted resources.

You don't have to take the plunge and buy it.
I decided to take the plunge and get married.
It's so expensive that I hesitate to take the plunge.
