Talk about parking tickets.

 

There are lots of parking enforcement cameras in Korea.

The system takes pictures of cars that are parked or stopped illegally on major streets.

It then imposes a fine.

That's why it's important to check whether you are clear to park in a space before you do so.

Last year, I stopped by the road for about 10 minutes to wait for someone.

A few weeks later, I got a ticket for illegal parking.

I was at the wheel, but they still took a picture.

Ever since then, I take a good look around to see if there are cameras.

A few weeks later, I got a ticket for illegal parking.

You can park here without getting a ticket.

I got a ticket because my taillight was broken.

 

3) take a good look around 주변을 잘 살펴보다

Ever since then, I take a good look around to see if there are cameras.

We took a good look around before we left the hotel.

You should take a good look around before signing the contract.

Talk about speeding tickets.

 

Drivers have to pay traffic fines from time to time.

Speeding tickets are the most common.

Drivers can get tickets for going over the speed limit on the highway.

These days, sat-nav apps tell you where the cameras are, which helps.

However, drivers still get tickets on city streets.

For example, it can happen in school zones, where drivers have to take it slow.

Even without flooring it, they get tickets because the speed limit is so low.

1) go over the speed limit 과속하다

Drivers can get tickets for going over the speed limit on the highway.

I didn't realize I had gone over the speed limit.

You shouldn't go over the speed limit, especially when it rains.

 

2) take it slow 천천히 진행하다

Drivers have to take it slow (when they are in school zones).

We took it slow because there was plenty of time.

I usually take it slow on weekends.

 

3) floor it 빠르게 운전하다

Even without flooring it, they get tickets because the speed limit is so low.

I wanted to floor it, but my parents were in the car.

My husband never floors it, even when there aren't any other cars.
